I just thank what gods may be they didn't announce Heller this week. Otherwise I fear they would have gone for the fuckup trifecta.

Sounds like your betting that the ban will be upheld (?)

Chicago's in the same boat as DC, so this'll have big potential impact 'round these parts. Personally, I hope the ban is overturned. I'm a big believer in registration (a la driver's licenses), background checks, etc., but not allowing law-abiding citizens to own handguns outright is nothing short of ridiculous.

I've been fairly confident in the ban being overturned. That said, since the two rulings issued today were so fucking stupid, my faith has been severely shaken.

Not that it's any surprise, but other than a provision for a criminal records and civil commitment check, I'm in favor of overturning everything up to and including NFA 1934.
