Who'da Thunk? (Reader Poll)
Chicago vs. Green Bay for the NFC crown... unbelievable! ...and I do believe this is only the second time in history that these two have gone head-to-head for a Super Bowl berth (the last time being 1941).

Quoting SportiFI:
"The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have the longest-running rivalry in the NFL, but now the rivalry goes somewhere it has never gone before: deciding who will play in the Super Bowl... there simply is not another conference championship matchup that could possibly measure up to the drama, intrigue, and history of this one."
So, I ask you, dear readers:

i'm looking, but i can't see the "Other (explain in post)" option.

There are no other options, i.e., two of those teams are going to the game (one NFC team & one AFC team), and one will surely win. What sort of "other" outcome did you have in mind?

a draw? another team invades the field and a punch-up ensues? anything!

i'm going to act like a three-year-old and throw a tantrum if Pittsburgh makes it to the Superbowl. WE HATES THEM!!

I have an entire rant about the superbowl, but bottom line is if anybody needs a ticket, lemme know! I have two for sale!

Tell me more, e.g. seat location, cost.

Well, therein lies the rant.

I can't pick up the tickets from the NFL until Feb 2nd, despite having paid for them back in December. The NFL also won't tell me where the seats are until Feb 2nd, when I pick them up.

I'd love to be able to put a price on them and sell them today, BUT, without knowing location, I can't even do that.

Stupid NFL.

The amount you paid ought to be a pretty fair indicator of the seat quality. $500 or more each?

Basically I won this last year

How can I buy Super Bowl tickets?

The only method the NFL has to distribute tickets to the public is through a random drawing. There is no other way for the general public to purchase tickets. The NFL does not sell tickets to travel or ticket agents.

Entries for the random drawing are accepted between Feb. 1 and June 1 of the year preceding the game in question. All ticket requests must be sent via certified or registered mail. Those selected in the random drawing will have the opportunity to purchase two tickets.

So if their are no other tickets to be had, I don't have a valid way to make a comparison. But yeah, I got two at "face value". 600 per.

An acquaintance chose Seattle and gave 10 points. Had I taken the bet, I would've won by one point. Damn, damn, damn, damn...

Go cheesypoofs!

Sorry, but I don't think your Bears are going any further. I watched with glee as Green Bay stomped all over the overrated Falcons in their own dome (Saints fan here, hates the Falcons we does). The Cheeseheads are on a roll at just the right time and they're gonna be hard to stop. But I'll give you that the Bears have been playing quite well and will certainly put up a good fight. Should be an excellent game.

Too bad my Saints had an off day and the Seahawks had one of their fluke good days in Seattle last week, or we could have a rematch from 2006. I don't blame fans like you for the despicable behaviour of some wingnuts back then, but I'd still like a chance to address that matter again. Ah well, maybe next year ;)

As both a Saints and a Green Bay fan I predict it'll be Green Bay v. Pittsburg and Green Bay will stomp Roethlisberger's team into the ground as bad as it did Vick's. With equal amount of shedding of tears about same on my part.

Since I'm so fucking tired of football (hubby and son will watch ANYTHING), I think I'll go with commercials, lots of good beer, and being thankful that football is over.

Of course, they'll find reruns of old games to watch. *boggle*

It pains me to pick the Packers over the Bears, but the Packers are full of fight and win, aren't they?

I think I'm going to drive up to Rockford next weekend to meet up with my friend who dates back all the way from 1st grade and who lives in Wisconsin, to watch the game. She'll root for the Packers, I'll root for the Bears, and we'll catch up at some local bar in a neutral(ish) zone. I can't think of a better thing to do on a historic game day.

I notice you didn't have an option for "Who the fuck cares?" because I would have picked that one... the only time I've found the Stupid Bowl interesting was during "The System" episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show...

"The System"

When Ted astonishes everyone by coming up with a winning system for betting on football games, Lou goes into partnership with him, and bets all their winnings for the season on the Super Bowl, without telling Ted.

Note: In this episode, Lou bets on the Pittsburg Steelers, who lose the Super Bowl. In real life, he would have won. In Super Bowl IX, played in New Orleans the day after The System was first broadcast, the Steelers beat the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 16-6.

I really don't follow football much, so I just voted based on what I want to see at this point: Chicago over Pittsburgh in the SB.

DA BEARS! We beat Rogers before, and we'll do it again.
