Never thought I'd agree with anything Bill Bennett had to say...
"If Herman Cain wants to be taken seriously as a public advocate for anything, never mind running for the chief executive and commander in chief...he needs to give a full press conference dedicated exclusively to this issue and these allegations... For we who led the charge against Bill Clinton on a number of related issues to continue to blame the media or other campaigns or say it simply doesn't matter makes us the hypocrites as well.

"[...] If Herman Cain cannot stand up to these charges, if he refuses to, then he should step out of the race. A man big enough to run for president should be big enough to have a full and candid press conference on all of this -- he wants us to elect him president after all, he's asking us to trust our lives and the country's life to him. This could be one of his finest moments and it could be one of his worst. But either way, he must confront the moment candidly and manfully."

Not that this blowhard coward had a shot at the nomination to begin with. Shame, really. I'd have relished seeing him publicly disemboweled.

Looks like you're still stuck with this piece of shit, 'Pugs...

Good luck with that.

Dude! So great to see you again! I thought we'd lost you to Twitter...

Cain, yikes. Personally, I don't think he's ever been serious about running for President. And this lambasting he's getting is bringing it home to him that this is for REAL. Thank the gods, too. The guy's a joke, but enough is enough.

You were missed. :)

i don't think mitt really has a shot. there is a lot of prejudice against mormons.

Maybe it's the magical underwear?

But, seriously, I think Mitt has the best shot out of all the Republicans. Even Bill Maher thinks he could beat Obama. But I don't think he can, and not just cuz of the magical underwear thing. But he'll likely be our Republican presidential candidate.

Isn't it kind of scary that the SANEST Republican candidate is MITT MOTHERFUCKING ROMNEY?
wobblerlorri From: [info]wobblerlorri Date: November 8th, 2011 03:22 am (UTC) (Permalink)
Actually, the sanest one is John Huntsman. But he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of anything, actually...

I always forget about him (doh!), but you are right about that.

Hunstman would The One

Good to see you too, you old reprobate.
kierthos From: [info]kierthos Date: November 8th, 2011 05:59 am (UTC) (Permalink)
*nod* All the other candidates would have to be caught fisting kittens for Huntsman to have a chance. Hell, Cain's poll numbers have dropped a bit and Gingrich, of all fucking people, seems to have gotten a bounce from it. (He's still polling a distant third, mind you.)

Fisting Kittens would be an ethical step UP for most Repugs.

They'd prefer to be fisting Lady Liberty, oh wait- nevermind.. already in process.

Re: Fisting Kittens would be an ethical step UP for most Repugs.

The 'fisting kittens' line comes from Warren Ellis' comic Transmetropolitan where the fictional President's popularity low is compared to a previous President who was caught fisting kittens.

I could have easily replaced it with "caught fucking a dead gay hooker".

Pugs choices

Regardless of whom ever gets picked by the GOP they're still going to be Koch employees. They had a secret meet up in Colorado earlier this year with a bunch of Conservative Elitist who helped plan out the GOP power plays for the next 4 years. That these scum are all Dominionist power mongers who believe that the USA should become the Christian Nation that it's supposed to be.

Of course even HP Lovecraft told people what to think of Republicans: As for the Republicans, how can one regard seriously a frightened, greedy, nostalgic huddle of tradesmen and lucky idlers who shut their eyes to history and science, steel their emotions against decent human sympathy, cling to sordid and provincial ideals exalting sheer acquisitiveness and condoning artificial hardship for the non-materially-shrewd, dwell smugly and sentimentally in a distorted dream-cosmos of outmoded phrases and principles... Intellectually, the Republican idea deserves the tolerance and respect one gives to the dead."

Love that quote from Lovecraft!

Yeah, I was just saying the other day -- Hermain Cain is accused of sexual assault, and the Republicans (and, really, the rest of America) ignore it. Clinton had consensual oral sex and America went nuts. EYE ROLL.

Nice to see a post- I think last time I posted LJ was more than a few months as well. I was just telling the wife as we walked thru the Meadowlands fleamarket how you would have liked to see the tribal table we saw there. There seems to be a large amount of this stuff showing up here the past few months. I look forward to reading what's been up with you.

I was just thinking about you the other day too, Jake (lookin' at the Tyson doll on the shelf in my den). Hope all's well at your end... family n' all.

Blaque! Good to see you, man! Yes the schadenfreude is deep and tasty re Cain. Mittens worries me a bit, as he isn't visibly a lunatic, like the rest of the viable field. But hopefully his total eagerness to be all things to all people ("every man's woman and every woman's man," to steal from Suetonius) will save us.
