Hey, Mittens - when you're finished pissing & moaning about the President "not protecting our troops" in Afghanistan, please drop me a line and let us know when even one of your five brave sons will be headed over there to join the battle. You know, just like you served your country when called... Oh, wait. You didn't serve, either. You received a deferment from the draft as a Mormon "minister of religion" in France for two and a half years, then wriggled out nearly three more years of deferments for your "academic studies." I'd say Axelrod's got your number, asshole. By the way, where was your "outrage" when Bush, Cheney and your fellow Republican leaders all but abandoned the troops in Afghanistan to wage a phony war in Iraq, hm? I tellya, when it comes to Protecting Our Freedom against the Evil-Doers, those troop-hating Defeatocrat appeasers and their "timetables" are just disgus... Wait, what?"The Wall Street Journal says Maliki and Bush are about to agree on a timetable that agrees with Obama’s timetable.
Even (Petraeus) says the Sunni Awakening is at least as responsible as any other cause for the reduction of violence in Iraq... now Maliki’s people say they’re ready to throw the Awakening under the reconcilliation bus and declare it illegal - perhaps as early as November 1st.
You can bet the Awakening folks won’t be thrilled about it and... express their displeasure by returning to violent insurgency. McCain’s beloved Surge won’t have accomplished a lasting reduction, and Bush will have already committed the U.S. to substantial withdrawal. [...]
Will the establishment media notice as Republicans do another 180 and claim that the prospect of renewed violence means the U.S. must stay in Iraq (just as the almost certainly temporary reduction in violence meant the U.S. must stay in Iraq?)" P.S. That deep, gurgling sound you hear in the distance? That's Bush's McCain's Iraq strategy swirling down the toilet... ...or ol' Straight Talk emptying his colostomy bag (take your pick).Tags: bush legacy, chickenhawks, dumb americans, iraq, john mccain, phony soldiers, support our troops, war on terror From: Chicago Mood: Tailspin

What is it with these phony soldiers, constantly trying to undermine our war effort? (Hat-tip VetVoice)In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday, Army Vice Chief of Staff General Richard Cody publicly rebuked all those who’ve been blowing smoke & sunshine for five years with regard to the war in Iraq. And he was pretty blunt about the crisis facing the Army... going so far as to allude to a military draft in his remarks: "Today’s Army is out of balance. The current demand for our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan exceeds the sustainable supply and limits our ability to provide ready forces for other contingencies [...]
"Given the current theater demand for Army forces, we are unable to provide a sustainable tempo of deployments... Soldiers, support systems, and equipment are stretched and stressed by the demands of lengthy and repeated deployments, with insufficient recovery time. Equipment used repeatedly in harsh environments is wearing out more rapidly than programmed. Army support systems are straining under the accumulation of stress from six years at war. Overall, our readiness is being consumed as fast as we build it." And then he added the kicker: "If unaddressed, this lack of balance poses a significant risk to the All-Volunteer Force and degrades the Army’s ability to make a timely response to other contingencies." Now, when Cody says "this lack of balance poses a significant risk to the All-Volunteer Force," he's basically saying we have three options: 1. We can change course now and save everyone a lot of trouble. 2. We can maintain our current course in Iraq and watch the Army disintegrate as it did during (and after) Vietnam. 3. We can institute the Draft and stay the course. According to the Washington Post, he went on to testify: "I've never seen our lack of strategic depth be where it is today... The nation needs an airborne brigade, a heavy brigade and a Stryker brigade ready for full-spectrum operations... and we don't have that today." And Cody's were neither made in a vacuum, nor are they random. In fact, they follow right on the heels of comments made by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen last week, when he met with The Commander Guy: If the current round of fighting subsides and the U.S. withdrawals from Iraq go ahead as planned, Mullen says, he's exploring the idea of shifting troops to Afghanistan - an effort that he says is vastly under-resourced.
< "...The possibility of sending additional troops (to Afghanistan) - where we need them, clearly - certainly it's a possibility. But it's really going to be based on the availability of troops. We don't have troops, on the shelf, ready to go." So there you have it: In the span of less than a week, the Army Vice Chief of Staff and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have both expressed that there are simply no more troops available to keep up the current pace of operations. And they've both implied that our All-Volunteer Force has reached the limits of its capability. I'd call that a pattern. I'd also call it an ultimatum — a not-so-subtle challenge to Emperor Shrub and Congress to either get us the fuck out of Iraq, or (literally) enlist the help we're going to need to keep this war dragging on indefinitely. The solution seems pretty clear to me: Fire Cody and Mullen immediately and replace them with more agreeable generals. ...those are the words of Minority Leader John Boehner in response to a question from CNN's Wolf Blitzer about the loss of 3,776 American lives, 36,943 wounded and more than $451 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars: No sacrifice from Boehner, Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Perle, Wolfowitz or any of the other neocon jackals that got us into this nightmare. That sacrifice is reserved for the families of the dead and maimed, and especially the kids Boehner mentions, who've lost their mothers and fathers. Disgusting. "Quite whinin', kid... you're liberated!"This is just too rich not to share... The latest, pathetic mewlings of "Reality Hammer" (AKA Centerville, Ohio's honorary village idiot), in the wake of Monday's disgraceful Petraeus/Crocker report, the 6th anniversary of 9/11 and the hell on earth our "commander-in-chief" has unleashed on Iraq: The far left doesn't want to win the war against terrorism, they don't want a peaceful Iraq, they don't want an end to the killing or human suffering, they just want to "win" a political contest against those they hate.
It is a tragic, horrifically evil thing they do and yet they revel in their deeds as if they are angels delivering the downtrodden unto heaven.
Watching them makes you realize how movements like communism and fascist Islam gain power. Such people are seduced by that kind of power and their ability to lord it over those they dislike. Each death in the world is their new toy with which to play a political game against their adversaries. Their coin is death and suffering and they know avarice beyond pale in such things.
When they see death and human suffering their thoughts dwell not on how to stop such things, but on how best to use them for their own selfish reasons.
The dead and dying know no peace while such people exist. This, from an (all-too-typical) sofa-surfing chickenhawk who never served his country, and who refuses to even acknowledge the 3,771 American servicemen and women slaughtered, the $450 billion+ in tax dollars squandered and - perhaps most tragically - the estimated 100,000+ Iraqi civilians wiped out like cockroaches. Sure, "Hammer." It's all just a "political game." (Hat-tip Evil Kos)There's only so much that war supporters are willing to do in their might and heroic struggle against Islamofacism. For example, they're willing to endlessly talk tough, ut they're not willing to - you know - actually wear combat boots. This clash of civilizations is only the Most Important Struggle Of Our Time as long as they don't actually have to do anything about it. That's for the poor shlubs who signed up to deal with. But wars have consequences. Frequent tours for U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan have stressed the all-volunteer force and made it worth considering a return to a military draft, President Bush's new war adviser said Friday.
Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute is the president's war adviser. Several retired generals turned down the post.
"I think it makes sense to certainly consider it," Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute said in an interview with National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."
"And I can tell you, this has always been an option on the table. But ultimately, this is a policy matter between meeting the demands for the nation's security by one means or another," said Lute, who is sometimes referred to as the "Iraq war czar." It was his first interview since he was confirmed by the Senate in June. The administration spun furiously to back off from that assertion, of course. This war retains its final shreds of support only because the administration has required zero sacrifice from the American people. The blood is being shed by others, and the cost of the war will be covered by our grandchildren, so why complain? In fact, it's probably a good time for a tax cut, isn't it? President Bush said yesterday he is considering a plan to cut tax rates for US corporations to make them more competitive around the world - an initiative that could further inflame a battle with the Democratic Congress over spending and taxes. Quack quack. He's not even pretending anymore. Tags: bush, chickenhawks, disgrace, iraq, military, republican hypocrisy From: Chicago Mood: Not My Kids Now Playing: 'Fortunate Son' - CCR

... what to do..." Yet another example of how these people will knowingly, willingly toss thousands of their very own children into a meat grinder - and take 'em back stacked, wrapped and stuffed into shiny, flag-draped caskets - long before they'll admit to trusting a man who couldn't possibly be trusted in the first place. "Waitress, bring me a bowl of ignorance, fear and cultural sloth, with a side of intolerance... the president is picking up the tab..."And - just in case you're living under a deeper rock than me - this little lady is definitely someone to keep your eye on (and support with a donation). This is the type of filthy vermin she's up against. P.S. This is my choice for president. Someone tell me how & why I'm wrong.
